How to keep your aim when you change DPI
Your feel depends on DPI × sensitivity (eDPI). Keep that number the same and your aim stays identical: new sensitivity = old sensitivity × old DPI ÷ new DPI. Doubling DPI halves the in-game sensitivity; halving DPI doubles it.
This works the same in Valorant, CS2, Apex, Overwatch 2, Call of Duty and any game whose sensitivity is a simple multiplier.
Quick examples (Valorant sens 0.4)
| DPI change | New sensitivity |
|---|---|
| 400 → 800 | 0.2 |
| 800 → 1600 | 0.2 |
| 800 → 400 | 0.8 |
| 1600 → 800 | 0.8 |
| 800 → 3200 | 0.1 |
Does higher DPI help?
Higher DPI with lower in-game sensitivity gives the same eDPI with finer steps, which some players find smoother; your actual turn speed doesn't change. Pick a DPI your mouse tracks well and keep the eDPI you're used to. Check yours with the eDPI calculator.
